Who We Are

We are non-profit organisation with almost 10 years dedicated to creating awareness for Endometriosis - because with more people having the knowledge and understanding of this disease, girls and women will have a quicker diagnosis, better treatment options and a better quality of life.

Our Foundation

We run specific programmes to educate students, workplaces and nurses in Jamaica. We also have initiatives that raise general awareness. Our current goal is to undertake research relating to Endometriosis in Jamaica and to advocate for better policies that affect those with the disease.

MARCH IS ENDOMETRIOSIS AWARENESS MONTH

We shine a bright light on Endometriosis during the month of March. This is important to generate awareness and to show support to those affected by this debilitating disease.

It allows us and the rest of the world to advocate for more research and better treatment options for Endometriosis – which has been categorised as one of the top ten most chronic diseases worldwide and which is also one of the top three causes of infertility

Too many women suffer in silence. Our girls and women deserve better – and with your help, they can achieve it.

Our projects

B.A.S.E @ SCHOOL

Teenagers are especially susceptible to being undiagnosed or misdiagnosed.

This is why we go into schools to educate both girls and boys, teachers and school nurses on Endometriosis.

The average age of diagnosis is 27 years, often after visiting on average 5 doctors. By going into schools, we will reduce diagnosis times and increase the chances of having a better quality of life in the long term.

B.A.S.E @ WORK

Work productivity is reduced by an average of 6.8 hours per week for women with endometriosis, and often times those at the helm do not even know that this disease exists.

This is why we go into the workplaces to educate HR professionals and workers on Endometriosis. We arm them with the knowledge as well as support and coping techniques to create an environment of wellness and improved productivity.

What people say

Whoopi Goldberg
You only have to tell one other person...just tell them what you heard, or ask them have you ever heard of [Endometriosis]? If the answer is no, share what you learn. You just have to tell somebody else. You have to take whatever stigma people think that is there. You have to take it. It’s not male or female. It has to do with, here’s a disease you don’t know about and you need to know about it.
Susan Sarandon
Suffering should not define you as a woman! And just because you’re a man it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t affect you! HELP HER to remove the taboos and the loneliness surrounding this disease; be understanding, show empathy, and don’t accuse her of being sensitive, delicate, or overly dramatic – this is a big opportunity for you guys to show that you care and to be a real man!
Hilary Mantel
It's not easy to diagnose because depending where the endometrial deposits are, the symptoms can be quite different. It's an unrecognized problem among teenage girls, and it's something that every young woman who has painful menstruation should be aware of. It's a condition that is curable if it's caught early. If it's allowed to run on, it can cause infertility, and can really mess up your life.
