Shelby’s Story

Read Shelby’s Endo Story below…
I started my periods at the age of 10. They were always very heavy and very irregular! I never had a normal cycle and in fact didn’t even realize there was such a thing. At the age of 17 I started to hurt really bad. I would be working and would double over in pain and cry. I found out that I had cysts bursting and was diagnosed with PCOS. I continued to go through different treatments with little to no relief. Finally, I gave up on my doctor and set up an appointment with a specialist. She immedietly took me off of the medications and started talking to me more. Before I left her office that very first day, I had surgery set up! She knew what was wrong and she knew how to help.

I wanted to have a child and my best option was to go in and try this out. I had a diagnostic laparoscopy done December 30th, 2010. My doctor said that I should be able to conceive in 6-9 months. 25 days later I married my husband! In April I started to hurt very bad and was coming up on my check up time any way, so I set up an appointment to see my doctor again. She made me take a pregnancy test and it was positive!! Turns out that I was 3 months post surgery and 2 months pregnant! It worked! I was so relieved and sure that the surgery had completely fixed me and there was nothing to worry about again. Everything was good after I had my daughter! About 6-9 months later I began to hurt again. I thought to myself, “great! No insurance anymore, and no way to see a doctor!” My daughter is now almost 2 and I still have yet to see a doctor 🙁 I do know that before my surgery I was a stage 2 and now I feel much worse than I ever had. I feel it everywhere. Not only is this affecting me physically, its beginning to affect me mentally 🙁

One day I will be endo free and maybe even have another addition to my family. Until then here’s to better painless times!
